Clemson establishes parks lab to examine social, human issues in parks, protected areas

Clemson University faculty have established the Park Solutions Lab to study the social aspects and human dimensions of issues related to parks and protected areas. The lab will allow faculty to benefit from a physical space that will increase the efficiency and effectiveness of capturing data related to visitor use and human-environment interactions.

A research team including two Clemson University scientists has garnered a national excellence award for its work helping commercial greenhouses and nurseries better manage water use for ornamental crop production.
 
600 elementary students build to learn

For many adults, the thought of building a structure is intimidating and complex, but for 600 elementary students from schools with Richland County District Two it’s something they’ve already accomplished. In September and October, fourth- and fifth-graders from 16 schools near Columbia traveled to the Clemson Design Center in Charleston (CDC.C) to tour the facility and build a room of their own.
 
Clemson House implosion set for 8:30 a.m. Dec. 3

At 8:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, a series of small explosions will pulverize columns on the first, third and fifth floors of the Clemson House at Clemson University, and what remains of the building will collapse as it succumbs to gravity.

By observing the foraging habits of a New World monkey called a golden lion tamarin, assistant professor Lisa Rapaport was able to uncover evidence of adult tamarins actively teaching their young.
