Clemson apps turn phones into personal assistants for people with intellectual disabilities

Students and faculty at Clemson University have developed two smartphone apps to provide practical, real-world assistance to help people with intellectual disabilities maintain employment and live independently. The ClemsonLIFE Task Analysis app aids individuals in the completion of everyday tasks for home and work, while the ClemsonLIFE Meal Planner app helps users develop a weekly meal plan, manage inventory in a pantry and populate a grocery list that ensures they buy required food items each week.

As the new Total Campus Marketing partner of Clemson University, JMI Sports has hired a 10-person sponsorship sales and client services team. Operating as Clemson Sports & Campus Marketing, the JMI Sports staff is working as an extension of Clemson University and Clemson Athletics to expand partnerships with corporate sponsors and enhance multimedia platforms.

Consistent with its ongoing commitment to providing a world-class college education at an affordable cost, Clemson University’s board of trustees Thursday approved the smallest percentage tuition increase for South Carolina resident students in two decades for the academic year that begins in August.

Tiny, hungry and rapidly reproducing sugarcane aphids have made their annual migration to South Carolina to feast on grain sorghum, an agricultural commodity that had been gaining popularity.
